Temporary water advisory for Purple Creek

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality has issued a temporary water contact advisory for Purple Creek in Northeast Jackson at Sedgewick Drive downstream to the Pearl River.

The department recommends people avoid contact with the water, such as swimming, wading or eating fish from these waters.

The department also issued a temporary water contact advisory Tuesday for Caney Creek in South Jackson from Highway 18 downstream to McClure Road.

A sewer line collapsed causing untreated wastewater to release into the creek.
