Talk one on one with Mayor Johnson

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Are you a Jackson resident? Do you have a question for the mayor or just want to talk to him?

Tomorrow is your chance for “One on One with Mayor Johnson.”

Citizens of Jackson, who would like to discuss issues, report problems, share ideas or speak with Mayor Harvey Johnson Jr., will have the opportunity before Tuesday’s City Council meeting.

Residents who wish to speak with the mayor need to sign up between 9-9:30 a.m. Tuesday a City Hall. The “One on One with Mayor Johnson” will start at 9:30 a.m.

City of Jackson names new Director of Planning and Development

JACKSON, MS (WLBT)  - The City of Jackson has named a new Director of Planning and Development.

Bennie J. Hopkins Jr., was appointed by Jackson Mayor Harvey Johnson Jr., and unanimously confirmed by the City Council Thursday morning, according to the City of Jackson.

Hopkins will oversee the offices of Economic Development, Code Services, City Planning, and Housing and Communtiy Development.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently chose Jackson as one of  five capital cities to help pursue green development to stimulate economic development, provide more housing and transportation choices, and reduce infrastructure and energy costs.
